Club captain Phillips back in the ranks for Sardis test

Llanelli return to Indigo Premiership action on Saturday when they take on Pontypridd at Sardis Road (2.30pm ko).

Second row Christian Long skippers the side, while there is the welcome sight of club captain Tom Phillips among the replacements.

Phillips hasn’t played since suffering a serious knee ligament injury playing for the Scarlets in Edinburgh on the opening weekend of last season.

There is a reshuffle behind the scrum following the heavy defeat to defending champions Cardiff last time out. Jac Davies switches from wing to full-back, while Iestyn Gwilliam moves to the right wing and Jack Price comes into midfield to partner Eddie James.

Scarlets Academy duo Josh Phillips and Harri Williams continue at half-back.

Another talented young prospect Sam O’Connor starts at loose-head alongside the experienced Taylor Davies and Alex Jeffries in the front row.

Skipper Long and Joe Greaves are again named at lock, while No. 8 Nathan Hart gets the nod in a back row that includes Luca Giannini and Scarlets flanker Dan Davis, who makes his comeback from injury. Phillips provides further experience from the bench.
