Close but Another Win

Llanelli 30 – 26 Bridgend

Four back to back wins now but make no mistake this game went down to the wire. A try by replacement prop Alex Jeffries with the last play of the game saw the home side grind out the much needed win. The first points of the game came in the first minute from Llanelli flanker Jacob Lewis, outside half Ashley Sutton slotted the goal to open up the early lead. He added a further penalty but it was the visitors who went in at the half leading by 10-16. A try from scrum half Chris Williams, converted by full back Owen Howe. This was followed up by three penalties by the full back. Llanelli regained the lead in the third quarter thanks to two further penalties by Sutton and a driving lineout try from hooker Dafydd Hughes that was also converted. The Ravens fought back with two Howe penalties and a try by Jamie Murphy which was also converted. Going into the last 10 mins it was the visitors who held a three point advantage. The Ravens skipper Nathan Edwards was yellow carded very late on and a couple of penalties saw the home side secure lineout ball close to the try line. Using their man advantage the prop Jeffries drove over for the winning score, Sutton again added the extras.
