The boys put in a very good performance in this game against Neath at the Gnoll. Scoring 11 tries which included one penalty try they totally dominated precedings. In fairness to the home side, their second half performance saw a big improvement and made things difficult for the Llanelli semi’s. Llanelli ran in six first half tries and were awarded a penalty try to lead 47-0 at the interval. Two tries apiece from wing threequarter Ryan Davies and scrum half Declan Smith were supplemented with a tries by full back Kalum Evans and Ioan Nicholas. Outside half Ioan Hughes slotted five goals.
The second half saw both sides make numerous changes in their respective lineups with all replacements getting a good run out. Llanelli added a further four tries in the half, Ryan Davies completing his hat trick, Ioan Nicholas grabbed his second whilst Tom Rogers also crossed. In the final minutes replacement second row Jake Baker scored the final try, with replacement fly half Ashley Sutton added the extra’s to complete the visitors scoring. In fairness to Neath they kept plugging away and were rewarded with two scores late on. Scrum half Nathan Griffiths and flanker Ellis Hopkins scored Neath’s tries whilst Callum Hall kicked one goal.
There’s obviously a lot going on within Neath Rugby right now but the the boys set about the task of securing the points on offer with a super attitude, more of the same will be required in the weeks & months that lie ahead.
Finally, can I on behalf of Llanelli RFC wish Neath all the very best in their endeavours to keep the club going in such difficult times.
