Narberth Friendly Report

Narberth 17 Llanelli 12

It was a wet afternoon in Narberth yesterday as the match got underway. Both coaches took the opportunity to play all their squad players who were available and I’m sure saw a lot to build on following a competitive 80 minutes. Llanelli started the brighter and quickly found themselves deep into the opposition 22 and following a lineout rumbled over for the games first score. That set the tone for the first quarter with Llanelli having lots of ball and field position. But, try as they might the Narberth defence was good and kept the visitors out. It was a different story in the second quarter, two quick try by the home side turn the tide and with the elements behind them secured a half time lead of 12 – 5.

The second half saw Llanelli once again dominate possession and field position. They did create numerous chances to score further tries but failed to make the most of those opportunities. They paid the price when with just 10 minutes remaining turnover ball resulted in Narberth securing victory with a breakaway try. Llanelli scored their second try on 80 minutes but in the end they went down by 17 – 12.
