Loss in Carmarthen

Final score Quins 26-15 Llanelli

On a bitterly cold afternoon the hosts ran out victors in what turned out to be a very entertaining game. Both sides tried their best to keep the supporters entertained with result still in the balance right to the very end. On Eleven minutes the Quins had a lineout deep inside their opponents 22m. They secured ball, set up the maul and flanker Gethin Davies was on hand to score first try of the game. After that it was Llanelli who made the most of the elements and with their set piece work in well got back on terms after 24mins. Prop Alex Jeffries rumbled over to level the scores. Then further pressure was applied and hooker got the first of his two tries just before the half ended. At half time Quins 5-15 Llanelli.

The Quins began to up their game and on 48mins outside half Stefan Marshall crossed wide out to reduce the arrears. An excellent conversion given the strength of the wind was added by Leon Randell. On the hour the hosts scored their third when again from a lineout close to the Llanelli line No8 Lewys Millin got in at the corner. Another terrific conversion from Randell made the score Quins 19-15 Llanelli. Lively scrum half Archie Hughes was a tad unlucky to have his try knocked off for a forward pass but it was still very much game on. It wasn’t until the final play of the game that the result was secured. The Quins bonus point try once again came from a set piece deep in their opponents 22m area. A number off phases later resulted in xxxx crossing in the corner, again Randell was spot on with the conversion to seal the win.
