Loss at Aberavon

Final score

Llanelli 17 – 43 Aberavon

A really physical game at the home of the Wizards ended with a win for the home side. It was the Aberavon forwards who took control of the game by dominating the scrum and disrupting Llanelli’s lineout at crucial times. The result was that possession, particularly in the second 40 was very much with the home side. The first half was more evenly contested with two tries/conversions  apiece. Llanelli scored on 2mins an intercept by centre Joe Roberts and on 24 mins scrum half Archie Hughes scampered his way over following a period of Llanelli pressure deep in the opponents 22metre area. The home side also scored two tries, both set piece scrums 5 metres out. A penalty goal from both outside halves Ioan Hughes for Llanelli, Aled Thomas for the visitors. At the half  it was 17-17. The home side took control of the second period scoring a further 4 tries, again with very much the emphasis on forward power. In the end a comfortable win for the Wizards but much there were encouraging signs from the visitors. So, a big prep week for the players and coaches ahead of our first home game against Bridgend.
