Friday night fireworks for Llanelli

Llanelli head to the Timbuild Brewery Field on Friday night for a floodlit clash against Bridgend Ravens.

The Indigo Group Premiership Cup returns to action this weekend after a break last weekend, owing to the start of the international campaign.

It was Bridgend who took the spoils when the two sides met a few weeks ago at Parc y Scarlets, securing victory after missed opportunities and a frantic end-to-end final few minutes from the home side.

Whilst Llanelli are entrenched at the bottom of the West table, winless in the opening six rounds of the Cup competition, Bridgend are just three points ahead in fifth position after two victories.

Looking ahead to the game head coach Paul Fisher said; “We’ve been relatively pleased with our three home performances despite not getting the results over the line.

“Areas of our game have developed and improved throughout the last six rounds but we’ve been unable to pull it all together over an 80-minute period.

“We’ve rotated the squad in order to give opportunities to everyone but also for us as coaches to see how individuals and combinations work away from the training pitch.

“We’ve blooded a number of young academy players in addition to giving game time to regional development players.

“We will continue to strive to improve and keep working on our game. We are clear what our aims and objectives are over the first ten fixtures and I’m sure the first win isn’t too far away.”
