Llanelli 35 – 17
Aberavon led 17-3 after 25 minutes of the first half and then were totally torn apart by Llanelli, who scored 32 unanswered points in the final 55 minutes.
Two Scarlets – Tom Prydie (20 points) and Morgan Williams (10 points) – ran riot over the ‘Wizards’, who were completely outplayed, and the score could have been much higher.
It had started well for the visitors with hooker Ieuan Davies scoring from a rolling maul and skipper James Garland converted.
Garland added a penalty but scorned at least three others before he scored a superb individual try that he also converted.
Llanelli had only a Prydie penalty, but then starting using their backs and Aberavon fell apart with full back Williams going over just before the interval as Prydie converted at 17-10.
It was one-way traffic from then on with Llanelli missing several good chances out wide yet still following a Prydie penalty by taking the lead with a try by hooker Greg George.
A Prydie penalty was soon followed by him touching down and converting.
Right on time a kick went astray and Williams, the former Aberavon player, ran alone from halfway for the bonus try that Prydie converted.
So, a much needed and well deserved bonus point win for the town semis.
The challenges keep on coming! Next up it’s RGC next Sunday at Parc y Scarlets. After they’re resounding win at Bedwas, they’ll come to the ‘parc’ with some confidence. So, another massive game coming up then and one in which the home side will be looking to build on the Wizards result.
