Llanelli 41 Neath 36 Try fest 11 tries scored, 6- 5 to Llanelli
KALUM Evans was the Llanelli hero as his late try secured a thrilling victory over Neath in an entertaining Principality Premiership encounter at Parc y Scarlets.
Billy McBryde kicked Llanelli into an early lead but Neath hit back with three tries in eight minutes.
The first came from scrum-half Chris Morgans after a superb run from Howley. And Howley went from provider to scorer with a quick-fire brace to put the Welsh All Blacks in full control. He also booted two conversions.
The hosts reacted well from the setback as a Matthew Jenkins try hauled them back in the game.
Jordan Collier then saw yellow for Neath and Llanelli used their numerical superiority to go over again, this time through Craig Thomas.
The momentum was with the hosts now and they continued to attack at will and finally found another way through with Richard Bassett getting on the scoresheet. McBryde added all three conversions but a second converted Morgans try saw Neath snatch the lead again.
Luke Price added a drop goal to Neath’s tally after the break but a Ryan Davies double, and a Mcbryde conversion, edged the hosts ahead.
Neath came back once again with Alec Jenkins crashing over in the corner and Howley’s conversion levelled the score.
But Evans managed to cross the whitewash in the dying seconds to claim a dramatic victory.
Super entertainment on a nice sunny afternoon at Parc - y - Scarlets.
