Excellent win at Pandy Park

Cross Keys 22 Llanelli 30 A first win in 10 yrs for Llanelli at Pandy Park. They last won there in October 2008 so they have had to wait a long time to secure this W. the playing surface was excellent and really helped the game flow with both sides keen to show off their handling skills. Ashley Sutton slotted his first penalty of the game after the visitors had been camped in their opponents 22 for numerous phases. Then, in their first attack Ieuan Jones crossed for Keys first try, which long serving Scrum half James Leadbeater converted. He also kicked a long range penalty on 24minutes to open up up seven point advantage for the home side. Llanelli then applied the same pressure as in the early minutes with both backs and forwards testing the home defence near the try line. Eventually, patience paid off and hooker Taylor Davies scored the try on 34 mins to reduce the arrears. At the half Cross Keys 10 Llanelli 8

Llanelli effectively won the game in the space of nine minutes at the start of the second half. They scored three tries, two from Matthew Jenkins (43) & (49) in between Ryan Davies intercepted 60 metres out and out paced the covering defence. Ashley Sutton converted two, so at 27-10 Keys had to play catch up rugby. They managed to score two tries, Matthew Powell and Tom Lampard but a further Sutton penalty for Llanelli made the result secure and  in the end it was the visitors who saw out the game to earn this unexpected but well deserved win.
