Carmarthen ran out worthy winners in this local derby, out scoring their visitors by 5 tries to two. Llanelli played with a stiff breeze at their backs in the first half and would have hoped to use the elements to their advantage early on, but the Quins were well up for the challenge. Both sides shared a couple of penalty goals apiece in the first quarter but it was the Quins who scored the first try of the match when hooker Torin Myhill crossed from a rolling maul from a five meter line out. Just before the half ended the home side added their second when wing threequarter Tom Prydie crossed wideout to put the Quins in the box seat going into the second half. The third quarter remained scoreless but a couple of quick tries by Carmarthen following red zone pressure put the game to bed and secured a well deserved bonus point. Llanelli managed two tries in the half to reduce the arrears, but the Quins had the final say scoring their fifth try deep into injury time. Both sides took the opportunity to play a number of young players which will hopefully prove invaluable when it comes to further challenges ahead.
