Tries Galore as yellow card proves costly

Swansea won this entertaining Fosters Challenge Cup tie by six tries to Llanelli’s five.

The first 20minutes saw Swansea forge ahead with two tries from Will Lewis and Chris James, both converted by Jac Wilson.

Llanelli bounced back with some great attacking rugby and ran in four impressive tries before half time from Ashley Evans, Tom Howell, Craig Thomas & Matthew Flanagan. Ioan Hughes converted three of the tries for a 26-14 half time lead.

Within a minute of the start of the second period Llanelli lost their industrious back row man Nathan Hart to a yellow card and Swansea turned the screw with three well-worked converted tries from Rory Gallagher, Ryan Evans & Rhodri Wells. Wilson added the extras.

Play continued to be fast and furious with both teams and referee contributing to an enjoyable spectacle.

On 73 minutes Josh Jones scored Swansea’s 6th try of the evening, which was cancelled out by Llanelli flyer Gwion Jones finishing the match with the try of the evening converted by Jonathan Rogers.
