Bridgend 16 Llanelli 16
Bridgend battled back to earn a draw against Llanelli at the Brewery Field although it was a game in which the visitors had enough chances to win.
The Ravens had a dream start when fullback Owen Howe kicked a first minute penalty but neither side could make much progress in the opening quarter.
Howe kicked two more penalties and Llanelli outside half Billy McBryde
Also slotted two.
The best move of the match came after twenty nine minutes when Llanelli attacked and full back Andrew Spowart came into the line at pace and on a lovely angle to split the Ravens defence and race over from twenty five metres, a try which McBryde converted to send the visitors into a 16-9 lead at the half.
No further score was added in the third quarter although dominated by the visitors in terms of both field position and possession. The Ravens had to live off scraps of possession but as the game went on, Bridgend lost two front row forwards through injury and passive scrums ensued. On seventy minutes a fine break by Ravens scrum half Matthew Phillips saw replacement forward Henri Williams pick up from the ruck to race over close to the posts, Howe slotted the goal to level the scores up. In a frantic period as time was running out both sides missed crucial penalty kicks which would have sealed the result but the honours remained even at the end.
