Spirited Llanelli came up against a fine tuned Cross keys team last night at Parc Y Scarlets.
An Elliot Jones hatrick of tries in the first 28 minutes for the Keys, two converted by talented outside half Ethan Jones stunned the home team. Llanelli ‘s only scoring response was from their man of the match Frazier Climo who left his opposite number Andrews for dead with an outside break. Frazier also converted.
Down by 19 -7 the start of the second period was going to be crucial for the home team. Unfortunately Llanelli gifted a simple 3 points to Ethan Jones but a couple of minutes later flanker Craig Price finished off a great passage of play to score wide out which Frazier converted.
Cross Keys were taking every opportunity and despite protests, Tom Lampard touched down near the posts, which Ethan converted.
Battered and bruised Llanelli responded defiantly and fittingly Frazier Climo scored and converted to bring the home team back to 21 -29.
The last 10 minutes was all Cross Keys with captain Leon Andrews leading the way touching down for a brace of tries both converted by Ethan to extend to 21 – 43.
With a couple of minutes left on the clock yet another good run from MoM Climo resulted in him sustaining a nasty leg injury and competent referee Gwyn Morris had no hesitation to quite rightly blow for time.
On the positive side Llanelli introduced some very promising emerging talent in Declan Smith, Shaun Pearce, Josh Middleton, Billy McBryde, Taylor Davies & Sam Martin.
Everyone I’m sure wishes Frazier a speedy recovery !
