What a ‘try fest’ this Principality Premiership match turned out to be from Llanelli and Bridgend Ravens at Parc Y Scarlets.
18 year Academy wing Josh Adams opened the scoring after just 8 minutes play and his team should have increased their lead on a couple of more occasions, however, poor options and inaccuracies cost the homesters.
Then impressive prop Rhys Thomas got yellow carded and from the resulting penalty, Bridgend opted for a scrum which wheeled and Referee Neil Hennessey awarded a penalty try which James Dixon converted.
Within a minute Llanelli responded when hooker Kirby Myhill touched down on 23 minutes which Josh Lewis converted for a 12-7 lead.
Ravens full back Ross Jones then crossed in the left hand corner which Dixon again converted with a fine kick.
But with seven minutes of the half remaining another well worked try for Man of the Match Josh Lewis plus another penalty try, awarded to Llanelli this time, were both converted to end the half 26-14.
Some outstanding movements had Bridgend in all sorts of defensive troubles with Kyle Evans scoring but again the Ravens replied with a Matthew Dwyer try. Then inform Steffan Evans stamped his class on the game with two quick tries one of which was converted by Josh Lewis for a commanding lead of 43-19 on 66 minutes.
But the Ravens were to show their mettle in the last 10 minutes with some smart tries from Adam Williams and Ross Jones one of which Dixon converted to bring them back to within 12 points.
Replacement fly half Nic Damjanovic then steadied the ship with a well struck penalty, but with Llanelli having used all their replacements and skipper being stretchered off then Duane Eager yellow carded they went down to 13 men and the Ravens made their number superiority count to end the game with their 6th try of the match from flanker David Barry.
