Four first half penalty goals from stand-in outside half Johnny Lewis turned out to be enough to win the Principality Premiership points at Parc Y Scarlets against Cross Keys.
The rare sight ( in the Principality Premiership ) of collapsed scrums was the unfortunate theme of the first half and if top ref Jonathan Mason had given six yellows to both front rows everybody would have wholeheartedly agreed with him. That coupled with errors and wrong options ensured this not going to have the usual free flowing feel we all love about games at Y Parc.
However this was a must win game and it was the Llanelli forwards that laid the foundation for the well deserved result.
Defences were at their very best as Cross Keys, like Llanelli failed to score a try. Dorian Jones and his replacement Dean Gunter kicked a penalty in each half to ensure they went home with a losing bonus point
Llanelli will reflect on the number of try scoring opportunities they missed and their failure to simply pass the ball !
As Phil Steele might say "no tries in a match at Parc Y Scarlets is about as rare as a nun in a bikini" but still, a nice win.
Llanelli RFC 12-6 Cross Keys.
