Llanelli will be counting the costs of the missed chances they had created in their opening Principality Premiership match.
Bridgend gave a fine lesson of how to defend and take your opportunities when they come. Their two first half tries were long distance efforts from prop Marc Thomas and centre Ross Jones with young full back Ben Thomas kicking one conversion and penalty.
Sloppy Llanelli's only reward for the many opportunities created was a fine try from scrum half Aled Davies with his partner Owen Williams converting.
With the slight elements in their favour at the start of the second period, Owen Williams kicked two penalties within the first seven minutes to keep the score board ticking. Then Ben Thomas replied to extend the Bridgend lead 18-13.
An excellently well worked Llanelli try was finished by centre Nic Reynolds which Williams converted to gave them the lead 18 -20 for the first time in the match.
But within a minute Ross Jones, the Osprey full back playing at centre, read another Llanelli attack and his interception try from 70 metres seemed to clinch the match. Thomas converted for a 25-20 lead.
With 5 minutes remaining, Llanelli strangely decieded to kick for the posts rather than go for a line out and a chance to win the game. Owen kicked the penalty and there was still time to win the game. It was not to be, as the referee blew for time, much to the delight of the fine crowd.
