Cardiff's simple territorial game plan worked perfectly as Gareth Davies kicked four first half penalties and also converted a penalty try after Llanelli prop Shaun Hopkins had been deemed to once again collapse the scrum and was shown the yellow card by Porthcawl referee Ian Davies. In between Llanelli's young rookie Jordan Williams kicked two well struck penalties.
Halftime Cardiff RFC 19 -6 Llanelli RFC
Llanelli down to 14 players and with the wind saw further sloppy play and poor defensive organisation allow Cardiff to extend their lead with a try under the posts for flyer Harry Robinson which was converted by replacement Scott Sneddon.
Trailing 26 -6 Llanelli started to play to a higher tempo and were rewarded with two fine tries from Owen Williams and Bowdy Davies both converted by Williams. Consistent referee Davies continued to give both sides plenty of goal kicking opportunities with Jordan kicking another three and Sneddon two, to bring the score to 32 -29 in Cardiff's favour.
On 70 minutes Cardiff's Dan Crimmins was yellow carded and it looked as if the comeback win of the season was on. However the young Cardiff boys showed great character to hold on until the 80th minute before Sneddon added another penalty to seal a deserved victory.
