2011/2012 Principality Premiership
Llandovery 16 v 5 Llanelli
16 March 2012 - Church Bank, Llandovery

Match Report

Llanelli go down -but not out

Llanelli lost their seventh Premiership match of the season and surely  cannot afford to lose another if they have aspirations of holding onto their 2011 Champions crown.

Llandovery opened with the big wind and although Llanelli looked in good shape and could have scored at least a couple tries, their discipline in the tackle area was again very poor.

Llandovery's Cerith Rees capitilisiesd with the gifts on offer by kicking three penalties and surprisingly missing two very kickable ones.

Llanelli, who despite the penalty errors ,were looking well in command and were justly rewarded with a fine try from wing Bowdy Davies on half time.

The second period belonged totally to Llandovery and they extended their lead with a try under the posts from open side Shaun Miles converted by Cerith Rees, to deservedly  win this Regional Principality Premiership derby.

Llanelli's season is far from over and the next four consecutive home games at Parc Y Scarlets will be decisive:-

Sat March 31st Cardiff

Sat April 7th Swansea

Tues April 10th Newport

Sat April 14th Carmarthen Quins.

The two other matches will be, another home game against Neath(tba) and an away match at Pontypool on the last Saturday of the Principality Premiership the 21st April.
