Llanelli travelled to Penybont, aka Steve Tandy territory, knowing they would be up against a young talented team determined to prove their worth in the Principality Premiership. They certain delivered as Bridgend pushed the 2011 Champions to the limit.
There was nothing between the teams in difficult conditions as Dan Griffiths and Jordan Williams both kicked a penalty apiece and converted tries by Steve Cullen for Bridgend and Llanelli's tough cookie, Iolo Evans.
Some superb counter rugby from Llanelli ended in great try for impressive scrum half Justin James which Jordan converted to give them a 17 - 10 lead. Then in injury time Johnny Lewis was at the end of another long distance counter, spearheaded by Wales 7s specialist Lee Williams.
Tandy's troops came flying out of the blocks in the second half and within 10 minutes had scored a fine try from the Premierships top try scorer Luke Morgan converted by Dan Griffiths who also kicked a penalty to bring the homesters to within 2 points.
18 year old Llanelli full back Jordan Williams then struck another fine penalty to take his team to 25 -20 on 55 minutes which was the last score of the game in what turned out to be a fantastic advert for the Principality Premiership,such was the handling skills of both sides in very difficult conditions.
