9 Try Brtish & Irish Cup win

Llanelli 63

London Scottish 0

LLANELLI opened their British & Irish Cup campaign in scintillating fashion at Parc y Scarlets, scoring nine tries against outgunned London Scottish.

The Exiles, who had lost their opening pool matches involving London Welsh (44-9) and Esher (43-10), failed to cope with a young Llanelli team brimming with confidence from the word go.

It took them just 90 seconds to get off the mark with wing Iolo Evans bursting clear for a try that full-back Jordan Williams converted.

They doubled the lead in the eighth minute when wing Evans again broke, and full-back Williams was up in support to take a try-scoring pass. Full-back Williams also added the extras.

It became 21-0 after quarter of an hour – lock Nathan White releasing fly-half Dan Newton for a try at the posts – and three minutes later the bonus point was banked.

Lock White burst away from a ruck, and rode a few tackles before touching down halfway out with full-back Williams adding a fourth conversion.

More exciting running from full-back Williams led to wing Evans collecting a second try while Llanelli went through the phases to collect their next try.

Wing Justin James touched down at the posts, and more pressure from the forwards paved the way for lock White to register a second try.

It was complemented by a superb Williams touchline conversion, making it 49-0 at the turnaround.

The second half was just two minutes old when full-back Williams outwitted the Scottish defence to score a superb solo try that he also converted.

But pressure from the Exiles then resulted in two Llanelli forwards - hooker Craig Hawkins together with captain and lock Adam Powell - being yellow carded.

However, the home defence held firm with just 13 men, and normal service was resumed in the 63rd minute when lock White completed a try hat-trick.

A ninth conversion from Williams rounded off the scoring with the young full-back contributing 28 points.
