Match Report

Bonus point win v Newport

Llanelli kept up their momentum in pursuit of a top three play-off place with a bonus point win at home to Newport.

Stalwart and captain Craig Hawkins lead with a determination and drive that was an inspiration to his ‘young guns,’ no more so than young Iolo Evans who was in fine form and deservedly scored the opening try. Further good news was the sight of Dale Ford getting back onto the field after breaking his leg in the first match of the season away to Newport back in August..

Dan Newton kicked 2 penalties and Owen Williams also kicked one plus converting two of the four tries scored. As well as Iolo, the consistent Johnny Lewis, Scott Williams and Dan Newton all touched down to ensure a valuable ‘try’ bonus point to sustain third spot in the Principality Premiership.

Next up will be a tough Principality Premiership encounter away to Pontypool next saturday kicking off at 2 :30pm.
