Match Report

Close Win @ Carmarthen

Tight-head Aled Hopkins (pictured above scoring against Llandovery) led his side admirably for the first time in another important away win at Carmarthen Park.

Llanelli  known for its try scoring exploits, had to rely on the skill of the boot to win this close encounter. Steve Shingler kicked his side to victory with five penalties from six attempts. However perhaps it was the boot of Dan Evans’s superb kicking out of hand that gave his Llanelli team the positional territory to grind out the win.

Quins scored the only try of the match, catching the very shaky Llanelli blindside defence cold in the seventh-minute  as scrum-half Ricky Richards touched down.

The Quins’  also kicked two  two  penalties from cenrte Jason Harries.

Llanelli will know that the away win was so important, but more importantly with the challenges ahead ,the performance was not good enough.
