Playing one of the top teams In the Principality Premiership with an over-stretched squad was always going to be a huge challenge. In fact many of the players that were on duty for Llanelli had to play their third game in 6 days and after 33 minutes everything seemed to be going reasonably well when wing Ryan Bayliss scored in the corner to bring the score back to 18 - 15..
But luckless and sometimes naive Llanelli conceeded two penalties and a try from wing Chris Lewis to go in 31 -15 down. Earlier Justin James scored a well worked try converted by 17 year old Jordan Williams who also kicked a penalty.
Aberavon never pulled their foot off the pedal in the second half and ran in a another four converted tries for a comprehensive home victory.
Llanelli will now lick their wound, rest and then prepare for their big B & I Cup match against English Championship side Nottingham @ Parc Y Scarlets on Wednesday 23rd February.
Aberavon 59 -15 Llanelli RFC
