Llanelli won their way through to the Quarter-finals of the British and Irish Cup with a bonus point win against Nottingham at Parc Y Scarlets.
Both sides had availability problems which was very evident in a scrappy first half and on 29 minutes only a penalty from Notingham’s David Marshall separated the sides..
Three minutes before halftime Llanelli capitalized on their dominant pack when a fine passage of play resulted in second row Nathan White sprinting in for a corner try. Outside half Craig Evans kicked the difficult conversion, then kicked a penalty two minutes later to go back to the changing rooms 10 – 3 up.
With both sides playing with more confidence in the second period Llanelli scored their second try on 50 minutes through the industrious Duane Eager which Evans converted who then kicked a penalty for a comfortable 20 – 3 lead.
In the last 20 minutes Llanelli piled on the pressure for the try bonus points and were duly rewarded with 2 tries from centre Nic Reynolds (70,73) which Evans converted to put Llanelli through to the British and Irish Quarter finals for the first time in their long history.
