2010/2011 British & Irish Cup
Esher 14 v 33 Llanelli
11 December 2010 - Molesey Road, Hersham

Match Report

Bonus point win

Llanelli  won on English soil for the first time in the British and Irish Cup against English Championship side Esher, scoring five tries in the process.

A performance could be described as ‘mixed’ but in parts excellent.

Llanelli showed some great flashes of continuity rugby, commitment and top defensive organization, coupled with perhaps the only negatives being not the actual decision to kick the ball away, but the poor execution of the skill.

Nevertheless, this was another fine win scoring three converted tries without reply for a commanding 21-0 halftime lead. Then the second half seeing Esher having the majority of possession , resulting in them scoring two converted tries from Sam Ulph and  Aaran Cruickshanks, converted by Ulph and Rob Kirby , but Llanelli wrapped up the bonus point win with second half tries from Dan Evans and Matt Gilbert  to add to the first half tries of Shaun Hopkins, Dan Evans and Steve Shingler who also converted four. Dan Evans's two tries made it 5 tries in 5 appearances.
