Newport awarded penalty on the 24th minute successfully converted by ex Llanelli stalwart Dan Grifiths .Further penalty by Dan Grifiths cuts the lead to just 4 points with Newport now piling on the pressure. On 34 mins yellow card to Lee Bassett resulted in another successful penalty for Newport. In a quite frantic first half and in the final minute of the first half Dan Grifiths slotted Newport,s 4th penalty to give the visitors a slender lead at half time. The thinking here at the moment is that Newport have perhaps weathered the early onslought by Llanelli and will test the home side in the second half. It will need a considerable effort by Llanelli to make a winning difference . 5 minutes into the second half Richard Dale powered over for Ports 1st try converted by Dan Grifiths. Llanelli looked tired and to be fair suffered greatly by the three yellow cards issued by referee James Jones, but no complaints they were beaten by a far srtonger Newport outfit. .
