Match Preview

Bargoed RFC the visitors to Parc Y Scarlets

It's our final Principality Premiership home Tier2 league game this coming weekend. On Sunday afternoon we host Bargoed RFC and as usual we extend a very warm welcome to one and all who come along to Parc-y-Scarlets to catch the semi pro action. The kick off is scheduled for 2.30pm and with the weather set fair it promises to be a super afternoon.
We kept our play off hopes alive by securing the win over the All Whites last week but as I've said before, we will probably need to win both our remaining fixtures to stand any real chance of making the top four. The boys secured a very good away win at Bargoed in the early part of the season with a solid performance by the pack that day in heavy conditions. Whilst conditions will be much different at the 'Parc' on Sunday, the boys will need to put in another strong performance to claim the points on offer. Against the Whites, at times we played some good stuff but our Achilles heel has been not to make the most of the opportunities in the 'red zone' - with just a couple of games left let's look to put that right boys!
Having had several very successful Championship seasons our opponents Bargoed secured their place in the Premiership this season. They have found it somewhat tough, but this has been a real learning experience for them and no doubt will come back stronger next year. Having said that, they've played just the two games so far in Tier2 and so with 5 games still to play have the real incentive to make the playoffs themselves. We know they are a well organised side with a lot of talent in their squad and will relish playing on the Parc-y-Scarlets playing surface. So, they will make the trip west with it all to play for.
It should be a really good semi pro encounter, look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
