It's the start of the Tier1 / Tier 2 Principality Premiership this weekend. As you know, we are in the Tier 2 competition for the sides that finished in the lower half of the league come the break. Our first game of seven will be at Pandy Park where we will be hosted by Cross Keys RFC. The game has a scheduled kick off time of 2.30pm on Saturday, and whilst it's the start of the 6 Nations tournament, Wales' game against Italy takes place on Sunday so it's a good opportunity for both home and away supporters to catch some Premiership action.
We had a few injuries against Pontypool last Saturday so this game will be a tough test for the squad as a whole, indeed it could very well be the case that a number of younger players from local clubs could feature in the match Day squad. We'll have to see how things pan out in training this week.
Our opponents Cross Keys had a comfortable Welsh cup win at Glynneath last Saturday so will be looking forward to taking on the West Walians on their home turf. They've had much the better results against us in recent seasons at Pandy Park and will fancy their chances once again to start the second half of the season with another win. Like ourselves though, they've had a disappointing season so far and will be very determined to build on that cup result and gather some momentum ahead of further challenges ahead.
We find ourselves in much the same position as 'Keys' although we're out of the cup we start with a clean sheet. Yes, it will be a big ask for the side to get a result at Pandy Park, but the boys know that if they play to their strengths there's no reason why they can't claim the points on offer.
So a big rugby weekend ahead, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
