We travel up the heads of the valley this Saturday to take on newly promoted Bargoed RFC in our next Principality Premiership league game. The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Bargoed Park and I'm sure we'll receive a warm welcome both on and off the field.
For those of us who came along to the 'Parc' last Sunday witnessed a somewhat disappointing performance from the boys. We created enough opportunities to win the game but in the end it was the visitors bench who did the damage in the final quarter and left us ruing our missed chances. But we move on to the next challenge and make no mistake, Bargoed will be a tough nut to crack on their own patch. Adam and the boys are really working hard to improve results and this week will be no exception. A big prep week ahead then.
In recent seasons, Bargoed have enjoyed much success in the Championship.
Two years ago, they won the Championship by a significant margin and last year they had a really good season finishing in the top four to qualify for Premiership rugby. They are very much a local community based club and run both senior and junior sides and play a pivotal role in developing rugby in this part of the county. Like ourselves, they've managed just the one win so far, at home against Swansea a couple of weeks ago. Last week they went down to early front runners Aberavon and put up a brave performance. So, with Llanelli "coming to town" they will relish the prospect of taking on one the most famous names across the whole rugby fraternity.
With both sides looking to get back to winning ways we should be in for a cracking league clash.
Hope to see you there.
