We're back in Principality Premiership action this weekend and come up against one of the newcomers to the league. So a warm welcome is extended to everyone from Merthyr RFC and indeed all players and supporters from both sides. Just a reminder to everyone, entrance will be via main reception and then up to the Quinnell lounge where everyone can purchase their match day tickets. The bar will be open before and after the match for refreshments.
After a couple of tough fixtures in the Premiership challenge cup competition the boys will need to refocus and really put in a big week's work ahead of what will be their toughest test so far this season. As we've seen in previous Premiership games so far, the boys are really competing very well but have not turned field position in points when needed. Come Saturday, they will need to do that if we are to turn over the Championship winners of last season.
Our visitors Merthyr have had a great deal of success in recent seasons and have started this season in fine fashion. They lie in second spot in the Premiership with five wins so far and just the one reversal against Bedwas in early September. In their two Premier Challenge cup games they turned over both Bargoed and local rivals Pontypridd with some strong performances. They go into this game having won 'five on the bounce' so will come to Parc-y-Scarlets confident that they can keep their winning run going.
So, a big challenge ahead for Adam and the boys, but if we, take all opportunities on offer, keep discipline and there's no reason why the semi's can't claim the points on offer.
Ahead of the game, there will be a schools rugby warm up event, details of which are to follow when final arrangements have been made.
The Match Sponsors are "The Magnificent 7" in memory of one of the sponsors rugby friends, the late Mark Thomas. Thank you gentlemen.
There will also be a Player Sponsor 'meet and greet' buffet after the game so those sponsors who want to meet the players they so generously sponsor, they can do so.
So, we can all look forward to another exciting day of Premiership action both on and off the pitch. See you all at the Parc on Saturday afternoon
