Match Preview

Principality Premiership Round 6

We're on the road again this week as we travel along the M4 to the Talbot Athletic ground where we take on the league leaders Aberavon RFC. I'm sure we'll receive the usual warm welcome from our hosts and can look forward to another full on Principality Premiership clash.

The boys put in a good workmanlike performance to earn our second league win at Bargoed last weekend and must take that kind of disciplined approach into this fixture. Defensively, we were much better and the side played in the right areas and played the better rugby given the heavy conditions. With the weather set fair this week, the chances are that the playing surface in Aberavon is likely to be in tip top condition so a different kind of game is likely to ensue, but the same attitude as seen in Bargoed will be required if we are to claim another victory. We all know that the squad are more than capable of doing just that!

Our opponents are having a great start to the season, in fact, they've won all their games so far. Confidence must be sky high, there's nothing like winning rugby to create a real buzz around the club. In recent fixtures, they've had the upper hand and will no doubt feel that they can take on and beat anyone at the moment. To win at RGC last week given how good a start they have had must have been a real fillip and reinforce their title ambitions even at this early stage of the season.

So, a big test for the boys but one that they must be looking forward to, can they turn over the leaders? Look forward to seeing you on the weekend.
