2016/2017 Principality Premiership
Llanelli 22 v 15 Llandovery
07 January 2017 - Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli

Match Preview

Principality Premiership "Regional derby'

It's half way point in the Principality Premiership this weekend. We will have played our fifteen games and at that point the league split in two, with the top eight finishing teams locking horns for the Premiership trophy. Unfortunately our game with Llandovery on Saturday will not make any difference to the make up of the league going into the second half of the season. But, I'm sure we'll see some really good rugby at Parc-y-Scarlets as we host our fellow regionalists Llandovery RFC. The game kicks off at 2.30pm and a warm welcome awaits everyone who comes along to the game.

To all spectators, please note the introduction of new RFC ground entrance and clubhouse facility at the Quinnell Lounge with full bar facilities and food available.

Everyone will now gain entry to the 'Parc' via the main reception area and then be directed to the Quinnell Lounge. All other turnstiles and the ticket office will be closed. It will be a cash paying facility only. For more info go to ‘Tickets” on our website www.llanellirfc.co.uk

Like me, I'm sure everyone at Llanelli is disappointed that we didn't make the top eight but we have to learn lessons from this season. Our home form has really cost us a place in the top eight, on the road we've put in some really good performances, although the Bedwas game was really disappointing for us all to see. We have to move on and really front up on the weekend if we are to gain a much needed home win. Our captain Adam Powell if passed fit, makes his 302 appearance for Llanelli and he really deserves all the accolades going, it's a fantastic achievement so please come along to cheer on Adam and the boys.

Our opponents Llandovery are assured of a top eight finish but will want to complete their round of Premiership games with a win at the home of Llanelli RFC. They secured their spot with a comfortable win over Swansea on New Year's Day and similar to Bedwas will look to build momentum for the challenges that lie ahead.

So, with the Scarlets playing on Friday night why not come along to the 'Parc' on Saturday to support Adam and the boys - I'm sure we'll see a cracking game.
