Match Preview

An away Principality Premiership trip

This Saturday we travel to play Nigel Davies’ Ebbw Vale at Eugene Cross Park. With both teams in SWALEC Cup action last Saturday its back to the Principality Premiership this weekend.

Ebbw had a big win at Newcastle Emlyn while we suffered Cup defeat to Championship highflyers Merthyr at Parc Y Scarlets.

Last season’s runners up in the Principality Premiership play-offs currently lie in fourth place are on course for another end of season play-off place.

We currently lie mid table and have been showing some really good form which augers well in this transitional period for the team. We were obviously extremely disappointed that our standards dropped somewhat against Merthyr last Saturday but take nothing away from the ‘Ironmen’ they thoroughly deserved to go through to the Quarters of the SSE Swalec Cup.

Its great to see our younger players finding their feet at this level and we would like to wish the Wales Under 20s squad (led by Tom Phillips) the best of luck in their quest for a 6 Nations Grand Slam.

Last seasons’ encounter at Eugene was a cracker with a home win 31-24 which was a credit to the Premiership, let’s hope we can reverse that scoreline with a brand of rugby that will please both sets of supporters.

Thanks to our supporters who will be making the journey up to North Gwent.
