2015/2016 Principality Premiership
Llandovery 32 v 8 Llanelli
12 September 2015 - Church Bank, Llandovery

Match Preview

First regional derby

Our next Principality Premiership game is at Church Bank where we take on fellow regionalists Llandovery RFC. I’m sure all the squad and all travelling supporters will receive a warm welcome from our hosts and will I’m sure catch a very good game between two sides who will want to play attractive rugby.

The boy’s competed quite well last week but in reality we came up against a confident and well drilled Pontypridd side who took full advantage of any chances they created and above all were clinical on any turnover ball. I’m sure the post match reviews this week will look at those instances and no doubt training this week will look at those areas where we were caught out at the “parc” last weekend.  Having said all that, the boy’s did score a number of tries themselves, created opportunities and competed well against the best side in the league so there is much to build on as we progress through the season.

Our opponents Llandovery have had an excellent start to their season. Pre-season friendlies have gone well for them, they retained the Fosters 7’s Cup competition in Cardiff a few  weeks ago and earned a hard fought win over Cross Keys in their first Premiership outing last week. So new head coach Euros Evans will be relishing the opportunity of taking on Llanelli so early on in the season and see if he can claim the early bragging rights!

Recent clashes between these two sides have seen really competitive and expect the same again on Saturday. With the new points scoring system once again on offer, we could be in for another try fest?

Look forward to seeing you all in Llandovery.
